Synopsis for the central california coast and bays including the monterey bay...greater farallones...and cordell bank national marine sanctuaries... increasing north to northwest winds across the waters today. The strongest winds are expected in the northern outer waters where gale force gusts are possible. Locally moderate winds will also develop along the coastal jets south of point sur, western santa cruz county, and south of point arena along the sonoma coast. Wind waves return at with periods of 5 to 6 seconds. In addition, there is a northwest swell at 8 to 10 seconds. A light southerly swell with a longer period at around 17 seconds will also be mixed in. $$
