...Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flooding Possible Through Saturday
Evening...

.A warm front will lift north across the Mid-South through
Friday. This front will interact with abundant moisture and
several upper- level disturbances today through Saturday evening.
As a result, the Mid-South will experience multiple rounds of
heavy rainfall over the next several days. Another 2 to 4 inches
of rain is expected, with isolated higher amounts. Heavy rainfall
on top of already saturated ground and swollen rivers and creeks
will likely cause additional flash flooding.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, Southeast
Missouri, and West Tennessee, including the following areas,
in East Arkansas, Crittenden, Cross, Lee, Mississippi,
Phillips, and St. Francis. In North Mississippi, Alcorn,
Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Coahoma, DeSoto, Itawamba,
Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Monroe, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss,
Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica,
Union, and Yalobusha. In Southeast Missouri, Pemiscot. In West
Tennessee, Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer,
Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry,
Lake, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Obion, Shelby, Tipton, and
Weakley.

* The river rose above flood stage Sunday February 17 and will
continue rising to near 35.2 feet by Sunday February 24.
Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* At 35.0 feet...Homes and numerous secondary roads are threatened.

* At 11 AM Thursday the stage was 11.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* The river rose above flood stage Wednesday February 13 and will
continue rising to near 12.5 feet by Monday February 25.
Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* At 13.0 feet...Several thousand acres of unprotected crop land is
flooded, and several roads inside the levee system are covered by
flood water.
