...Water levels are running high along the Upper Arkansas River at
Salida...Wellsville...Parkdale...Canon City...Portland...Lower
Arkansas River at Pueblo...La Junta...

Additional snow melt across the high country will lead to high flows
along the Arkansas River.

River levels are expected to remain within banks...but the high flows
will still be dangerous. Those participating in activities near the
water are advised to use extreme caution. Strong currents could
quickly become a safety hazard.

Following is the latest available information...

Arkansas River At Salida...
* At 8:15 AM Saturday the stage was 6.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* No flooding is currently forecast.


Arkansas River Near Wellsville...
* At 8:15 AM Saturday the stage was 7.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* No flooding is currently forecast.


Arkansas River At Parkdale...
* At 7:45 AM Saturday the stage was 7.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* No flooding is currently forecast.


Arkansas River At Canon City...
* At 8:15 AM Saturday the stage was 10.0 feet.

High flows are not uncommon this time of year...but they still pose a
serious threat to persons in or near the water. Each year...high
flows result in mishaps that are sometimes fatal.

Stay away from the banks of rivers and streams. During high water...
saturated banks can easily break off and fall into potentially
deadly...fast flowing water.
