...Two Rounds of Freezing Rain to Affect Much of Iowa...

.A winter storm will produce two rounds of freezing rain today
through Tuesday. The first round will occur over northwest half
of Iowa mainly through early afternoon. The second round will be
occur from late Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Ice
accumulations will make travel very hazardous at times. Some tree
damage and power outages are possible in areas; especially with
the second round of icing. Anyone with travel plans should closely
monitor forecast updates and road conditions.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Freezing drizzle and freezing rain. Expect a round of
precipitation through early afternoon with another round
expected late tonight into mid morning Tuesday.

* WHERE...Portions of northern and western Iowa, mainly along and
west of a line from Hampton through Boone to Audubon.

* WHEN...Until noon CST Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The ice will result in difficult travel
conditions, including during the morning commute today and
Tuesday. In addition to the dangerous travel conditions, gusty
north winds may cause ice coated trees and powerlines to break
and possibly fall, leading to the potential for power outages.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling

Monday through Tuesday. The first round is forecast to develop
over northwest half of Iowa early Monday morning and continue
through much of the day. The second round will be from southwest
to northeast Iowa Monday evening into Tuesday. Ice accumulations
will make travel very hazardous at times. Tree damage and power
outages are possible in some areas; especially with the second

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Widespread light to moderate freezing rain with ice
accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch overnight tonight
through Monday afternoon. A brief break is forecast in the
precipitation late Monday afternoon into the early evening
across the advisory area with only some brief periods of light
freezing drizzle during this time. A second round of freezing
rain looks to develop during the overnight hours Monday night
into Tuesday morning.

* WHERE...The area to most likely receive ice accumulations will
be along a line from Audubon to Hampton by early Monday morning
through the early afternoon Monday.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to noon CST Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The ice will result in hazardous travel
conditions, including during the morning commute on Monday,
especially on untreated roads. These impacts are possible again
with the a second round of freezing rain from Monday evening
through around midday Tuesday. In addition to the dangerous
travel conditions, gusty northeast winds may cause ice coated
trees and powerlines to break and possibly fall, leading to the
potential for power outages.
