...The flood warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...Kentucky...Missouri...

Ohio River at Smithland Dam...Paducah and Cairo.

.Moderate to major flooding continues along the lower Ohio River from
Smithland down to Cairo. Major flooding is already occurring at Cairo
with a crest around 55 feet expected on Sunday. Major flooding is
forecast to develop at Smithland Dam on Friday with a crest around 50.5
feet on Sunday. At Paducah, river levels are forecast to crest around
51.5 feet on Sunday, just a little below major flood stage. Fluctuations
in the river crest forecasts are possible depending on how much, and where
the heaviest rain sets up Friday into Saturday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

* At 12:00 PM Thursday the stage was 49.5 feet.
* Flood Stage is 40.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 50.5 feet by
Sunday morning. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 51.0 Feet...Large amounts of property damage can be
expected. Evacuation of many homes and businesses becomes
necessary. Highway 60 in Smithland closes.

...J.T. Myers Dam...Golconda...Shawneetown...Smithland Dam...Paducah
and Cairo

.Minor to moderate flooding continues along the lower Ohio River.
A prolonged period of minor to moderate flooding is expected to
continue. Additional heavy rain is forecast across much of the
Tennessee and Ohio River Valleys on Friday and early Saturday.
Smithland Dam is now expected to reach 50 feet, which is touching
the major flood category. Cairo is currently in the major flood
category with a forecast crest of 54.5 feet. Check back often for
updates to the forecast.

early Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 41.0 Feet...Minor flooding occurs affecting mainly
bottomland and surrounding low lying areas.

* At 9:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 45.6 feet.
* Flood Stage is 38.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 45.7 feet by
after midnight tomorrow. Additional rises may be possible
thereafter.
* Impact...At 46.0 Feet...Highway 662 near the old Lock and Dam 47
begins to flood. This is approximately 1/2 mile downstream from the
current lock and dam.
