Hydrologic Outlook
National Weather Service Paducah KY
347 AM CST Mon Feb 18 2019

...More Rain On The Way...

After a dry start to the week, we'll again move toward a soggy
forecast with a couple of significant bouts of rain we want you to
be prepared to receive.

The first such round of rain will begin late in the day Tuesday,
and continue off and on through Wednesday night. Amounts will be
the most over western Kentucky, where low 1 inch to low 2 inch
amounts may fall. North of the Ohio river, generally one half to 1
inch amounts are anticipated. The bulk of this precipitation will
fall Tuesday night.

After a brief respite, rains will pick up again as we end the week
and head into the weekend. Weekend totals will come in with very
similar numbers, maybe even a little heavier. That means that the
total combined rainfall coming this week and next weekend, will
be in the 4 to 5 inch range over much of western Kentucky, with
broad 2 to 4 inch totals across much of the rest of the region.

Given all the rain we have received recently, it won't be long
before this rain goes from soaking into the grounds, to saturating
them, and running off. This will no doubt stress the already
swollen and slow to recover creeks, streams, rivers, and their
tributaries, many of which will be remaining in flood this week.

Plan and be prepared for this upcoming wet period, and heed all
flood signs and warnings if and when they are posted.
