...Active and Impactful Weather Expected This Weekend...

A potent winter weather system will cross from west to east
through Kentucky this weekend. Initially this system will bring an
abundance of moisture to eastern Kentucky on Saturday with 1 to 2
inches of rainfall expected. This rain could lead to local high
water issues into Saturday night. High water on local rivers from
this rain can be anticipated for the start of the new work week,
as well.

A sharp cold front will cross eastern Kentucky Saturday evening,
changing the rain to snow, and potentially leading to wet roads
becoming icy and hazardous late Saturday night. Up to two inches
of snow will occur on Saturday night into Sunday morning - blown
around by brisk northwest winds. These winds will also add to the
chill as temperatures fall into the 20s by Sunday morning. As a
result, wind chills could be down in the single digits at times on
Sunday with near zero values possible Sunday night. Actual air
temperatures will fall into the single digits at most places by
dawn Monday, as well.

Now is the time to prepare for the wet weather on Saturday and a
turn to more wintry conditions by Sunday.
