...Heavy Rainfall and the Threat of Flash Flooding returns to the
Mid-South Thursday afternoon and continues through Saturday
night...

.A frontal boundary will lift back north tomorrow afternoon and
interact with several upper level disturbances Thursday through
Saturday night. As a result, the Mid-South will experience
multiple rounds of heavy rainfall over the next several days.
Another 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is expected...with isolated
higher amounts to 6 inches or more. Heavy rainfall on top of fully
saturated grounds and swollen rivers and creeks will likely cause
flash flooding.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of East Arkansas, North
Mississippi, and West Tennessee, including the following
areas, in East Arkansas, Crittenden, Cross, Lee, Phillips, and
St. Francis. In North Mississippi, Alcorn, Benton, Calhoun,
Chickasaw, Coahoma, DeSoto, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee,
Marshall, Monroe, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman,
Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, and
Yalobusha. In West Tennessee, Benton, Carroll, Chester,
Crockett, Decatur, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood,
Henderson, Madison, McNairy, Shelby, and Tipton.

* From Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening

* An additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is expected across the
watch area with isolated higher amounts.


* Street flooding will be a hazard for motorists. Low-lying and
poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as well
as small streams.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
