The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Clay County in northeastern Mississippi...

* Until 245 AM CST.

* At 846 PM CST, emergency management reported flooding is still
ongoing across the county with numerous roads with water across
them. Two to four inches of rain fell earlier today.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
West Point, Montpelier, Waverly, Pheba, Tibbee, Griffith and Pala
Alto.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* At 7:30 PM Tuesday the stage was 17.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage early tomorrow
afternoon and will continue to rise to near 24.9 feet Friday
morning.
* Impact...At 23.5 feet...Flood water is covering the gravel road
south of West Point that leads to the Tibbee Creek bridge near
Tibbee.
* Impact...At 23.0 feet...Flooding in low areas on the left bank is
occurring.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage late tomorrow
evening and will continue to rise to near 28.6 feet early Friday
morning.
* Impact...At 28.0 feet...Farm land near the river begins to flood.
* Impact...At 26.0 feet...Low land near the river is flooded.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana and
Mississippi, including the following areas in southeast
Arkansas, Ashley and Chicot. In northeast Louisiana, East
Carroll, Morehouse and West Carroll. In Mississippi, Attala,
Bolivar, Carroll, Choctaw, Clay, Grenada, Holmes, Humphreys,
Issaquena, Leflore, Lowndes, Montgomery, Noxubee, Oktibbeha,
Sharkey, Sunflower, Washington, Webster, Winston and Yazoo.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* Rainfall amounts of one to three inches with locally higher
amounts are expected to fall on partially saturated grounds.

* The flooding of roads, low lying areas, and areas with poor
drainage is expected. Water levels on areas rivers and streams
will be rising as well. If encountering flooded roads,
remember to turn around, don't drown and be especially
cautious at night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
