Choctaw MS-Oktibbeha MS-Webster MS-Clay MS-Lowndes MS-
148 AM CST SAT FEB 23 2019

The National Weather Service in Jackson has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
Choctaw County in central Mississippi...
Oktibbeha County in northeastern Mississippi...
Webster County in north central Mississippi...
Clay County in northeastern Mississippi...
Lowndes County in northeastern Mississippi...

* Until 800 AM CST Saturday.

* Over the past several days widespread rainfall amounts from three
to five inches of rain have fallen over the area. Periods of heavy
rain from last night have caused flash flooding. In addition, many
rivers and streams are high and may lead to additional flooding of
homes and roadways.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Starkville, Columbus, West Point, Columbus AFB, Montpelier, Eupora,
Ackerman, Caledonia, Maben, Mathiston, Crawford, Sessums, Craig
Springs, Longview, Oktoc, Bent Oak, Clarkson, Steens, Pheba and
Muldrow.

Additional rainfall amounts up to an inch are possible through the
early morning hours as scattered showers and embedded thunderstorms
periodically redevelop over the warned area. Additional, heavier,
thunderstorms are possible late on Saturday that will bring
potential for another quick inch of rainfall to isolated locations.
Any further heavy rainfall will only worsen the high water situation
and numerous roads are already flooded or closed. Standing water
will continue across the warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
