...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS
EVENING TO NOON EST WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of up
to a tenth of an inch expected.
* WHERE...The Northern Piedmont including the Piedmont Triad
region including locations near and north of the Interstate
* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to noon EST Wednesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Precipitation will spread into the area
this evening and may start as brief mixture of snow and sleet.
This precipitation will change to rain by around midnight. As
temperatures fall to near 30 late tonight and Wednesday morning,
the rain will change to freezing rain and create a glaze of ice.
Most of the icing will accrue on elevated surfaces, however,
some icing may develop on area streets, roads, bridges,
overpasses, and sidewalks. The greatest accumulations of
freezing rain will occur well north of Interstate 85. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Freezing
rain will change to rain before noon Wednesday as temperatures
warm above freezing.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain
will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads. Slow down
and use caution while driving.
