URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
Flood Watch...UPDATED
National Weather Service Corpus Christi TX
357 AM CDT Thu Jun 21 2018

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON FOR
PORTIONS OF SOUTH TEXAS...

.Plentiful tropical moisture due to a mid level and surface
trough over the area has produced areas of moderate to heavy
rainfall. Persistent rainfall has resulted in significant
flooding across the region. Most of the region has already
received 5 to 10 inches with isolated higher amounts of rain over
the last couple of days, allowing our soils to become fully
saturated. Any additional rainfall this morning could quickly
lead to flash flooding over the watch area, as the water has
nowhere to go with rivers, creeks and ditches essentially full.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* A portion of South Texas, including the following areas,
Aransas Islands, Coastal Aransas, Coastal Kleberg, Coastal
Nueces, Coastal Refugio, Coastal San Patricio, Duval, Inland
Kleberg, Inland Nueces, Inland Refugio, Inland San Patricio, Jim
Wells, Kleberg Islands, and Nueces Islands.

* Through Thursday afternoon

* Persistent heavy rainfall due to tropical moisture has lead to
flash flooding over the watch area. Over the past several days,
5 to over 10 inches of rainfall fell in some areas. Additional
rainfall with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour or higher will
likely cause water to rapidly accumulate over these areas.

* Additional amounts of 1 to 2 inches can be expected across the
Coastal Bend area through this afternoon. As with nearly all
flash flood events, locally higher amounts will be possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
