The National Weather Service in Wakefield has extended the

A Dam Floodgate Release in...
South central Caroline County in north central Virginia...
West central King William County in east central Virginia...
Central Hanover County in central Virginia...

* Until 830 PM EDT Monday.

* At 803 AM EDT, river gauges along the South Anna River and the
Pamunkey River indicate ongoing flooding. The gauge at Ashland
along the South Anna River reported a level of 13.07 feet,
indicating that flooding is still occurring. Flooding at the
Ashland gauge begins at 12.0 feet. The gauge near Hanover along
the Pamunkey River reported a level of 23.1 feet and is slowly

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hanover, Kings Dominion and Gum Tree.


Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from the floodgate release and from recent heavy
rainfall will continue to cause flooding of small creeks and
streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
